Rug cleaning in Madrid

Rug cleaning in Madrid

At Alfombras Esmati we have been cleaning rugs of every kind in Madrid for more than 20 years. We treat wool, Persian, oriental, Afghan, silk, sisal, Spanish-knot rugs, kilims, tapestries and synthetic fibres, each with the method it needs.

Over time a rug builds up dust, mites, grit and stains that household vacuuming cannot remove. A thorough professional clean restores the original colour, texture and softness, removes odours and makes your home healthier, as well as significantly extending the life of the rug.

How we work

  1. Free pick-up from the address you give us, on the day and at the time you choose.
  2. Assessment of the fabric, dyes and type of dirt to choose the right treatment.
  3. Dusting to remove the dry dirt embedded at the base of the pile.
  4. Deep washing with products specific to the material.
  5. Controlled drying that respects the rug’s shape and prevents odours and shrinking.
  6. Free delivery of your rug, clean, dry and ready to use.

Frequently asked questions

How often should my rug be cleaned professionally?

For a rug in normal household use, we recommend a professional clean once a year. In high-traffic areas, or with pets or allergies, every 6–8 months is better. If there is a serious stain, the sooner it is treated, the better the result.

Will cleaning damage the colours or shrink the rug?

Not if it is done properly. We analyse the fabric and dyes before we start, use products suited to each material and apply controlled drying, which prevents shrinking and colour bleeding.

Can I wash a wool or silk rug myself at home?

It is not advisable. Wool, silk and hand-knotted rugs need specific products and proper drying; washing at home usually mats the fibres, fades the colours and leaves a damp smell. A professional clean protects the rug and extends its life.

How long does it take to clean a rug?

Usually between a few days and a week, depending on the fabric, size and drying time. We give you a specific timeframe with your quote.
